Havdalah Hike - 8 November 2008

Weston Bend State Park

Nine adventuresome Kol Ami people and one dog experienced a memorable havdalah in a picturesque, rustic and crisp Autumn environment at Weston Bend State Park near Weston, Missouri on Saturday, November 8, 2008. After hiking through woods and carpets of leaves, we reached the scenic overlook of the Missouri River and then prepared a spot for havdalah amongst the trees protected from the wind.  After some cider and treats, the havdalah candle was lit, the blessings recited and “shavua tovs” exchanged. The quickly fading light and creeping coldness forced a quick hike back to the cars. Thank you to the following people who participated and countered the chilly weather with their warm and joyful spirits: Stan and Cole Stauss; Bob, Nancy and Sarah Milgrim with Sarah’s friend Megan; Steve Chernoff; Steve and Linda Sackin; with special thanks to David Wheaton.
